Trolls

My social studies teacher told me this story. The sister of another social studies teacher has a ten year old son. He called his mom's secretary five times in a row. The secretary told the mom to call her son because something is wrong. The mom calls him and he shouts trolls into the phone. She tells him she'll be home at five. When she gets home, the boy is upstairs and pushed all the furniture against the closet. She moves the stuff back and opens the closet door. There is a midget in the closet! She starts screaming and so does the midget, and the boy says "It's a troll!" When all three of them calm down, the mom asks the midget what he is doing in the house and he says he works for the census. When the midget rang the doorbell, the son thought he was a troll, scooped him up, threw the midget in the closet and pushed all the furniture against the doors. The dude was in there for hours. I just have one question. How did the midget ring the doorbell?
